Intel NUC DC3217IYE and OS X 10.9

As many of you know by now, contrary to my recent article ‘Heading Over to the Dark Side‘ about moving away from Apples iPhone operating system and experiencing Android in any great anger, I am still a big fan of Apple’s products, including their very expensive Mac Pro starting at an eye-watering at $A3,999.00 and heading on up to their heart stopping $A5,299.00 for their 6-core system.

As much as I would like one of those, even their base Mac Mini at a little more reasonable $A749.00 is a little too expensive for me at the moment.

If you are familiar with this blog you will have read my tutorial ‘A Mac Pro at Quarter of the Price‘ where I go through selecting the correct hardware (similar to what Apple uses in their systems) to build yourself a powerful Mac Pro for a quarter of the price of buying a genuine Mac from them.

The Sun is Setting Across the Skies of Sydney…

In my last post of Batten Down The Hatches… You Never Know When That Storm is Going To Come Rolling Through!!!, I promised I would go out again and attempt to get some sunset shots of Sydney Harbor.

Batten Down The Hatches… You Never Know When That Storm is Going To Come Rolling Through!!!

Since moving to Sydney, I have found it a little difficult to get in the right place at the right time to try and get one of my trademark shots.

Every time I go to a new place, I always seem to come back with at least one Sunset shot, and my parents have always wondered if I ever take photographs of anything else… well… it just so happens I do, it was only because I was out and about on Saturday afternoon making a concerted effort to get into the right place at the right time to get a Sunset shot across the skies of Sydney Harbor Bridge and Sydney Opera House, only to be presented with storm clouds, so here are some photos from that day.  I will upload more when I have finished going through them and editing them.

Eight Years and Counting…

Very quick post, to say thank you to WordPress and to all my readers.  It has just been pointed out to me (by WordPress), that today (March 07, 2014) is the 8th Anniversary of when I started creating blogs on WordPress.

8th Year Anniversary

This blog hasn’t been around that long (yet) but I am hoping that the information I post (some of it irrelevant to some) will be useful to the people who find it as the years go by.

Thank you for visiting my blog, and thank you WordPress for giving me the tools to get my point across on so many different topics.

Thanks

J

Opps… Sorry Western Australia… Perth 21st Most Expensive Place to Live.

Ever since I looked at getting my Permanent Residency Visa to live and work in Australia, I had made one important restriction on the locations of Australia I would consider living in and not living in for a variety of reasons.  One such place I had considered a place I did not want to live was Perth, Western Australia.

Reason: I had spoken to several people in the UK, watched several television programs, read lots of websites  and this City was considered the primary destination for those wishing to emigrate from the UK and until a few days ago, I considered it one of the most expensive places to live in the world, let alone in Australasia!

Heading Over to the Darkside… iOS vs Android

This very quick article is not designed to be a review of the iPhone 4 or the HTC One mobile phones.  I just so happens to be those phones I have, this article is to express my feelings of moving away from iOS something I said I would never do, and start using Android.

I will start off by saying, I am aware that the photo that starts this article shows the iPhone 5 and the HTC One side-by-side, just so I don’t get loads of comments about my mistake.  As I said this is about iOS vs Android not the phones themselves.

Where Are They Now: Everwood

After several months of promising that I would continue my Where Are They Now series with an article on the popular television series Everwood.  Here it is…

Like my last article of the ‘Where Are They Now’ series, I am hoping that this will be just as popular with my readers as the 7th Heaven one.  Much like that article I would like to know why you’ve come to read this, so help me out and answer a very quick poll and then I will get right into it.
