PhotoStream #009: Vivid Sydney 2014

Hi folks and welcome to PhotoStream #009.  Sorry it has been a while since I last posted but I have been away working in other parts of Australia, but I still managed to take my camera with me on those trips and I will be posting some photos very soon (just don’t look at the date-stamps – because I am posting my latest ones first).

Photostream #008: Sydney Harbor, The Rocks and Vintage Editing.

Welcome to PhotoStream Number 08, it has been a while  since the last PhotoStream post (November 2012), sure that has been some posts about photography since then but nothing that specifically focuses on a particular type of photography.

Finally An Opportunity to Sell Some of My Photographs…

For many years I have wanted to share my photography with the world and I currently do with the help of this blog, and and alongside this I have wanted to possibly sell some of my creations, many of the photographs you have seen on this blog over the years are also available for sale through, but I am yet to sell any.

Photography has always been hobby and I do it out of enjoyment not for financial gain, but it would be nice.  I have used my photography skills for over seven years helping a local photographer in my home town in the United Kingdom, but Landscape and Sunset Photography has always been my passion.

Since moving to Sydney, I have managed to get some quite dramatic pictures of several locations around New South Wales, and sharing them with you, my friends and family, the thought never entered my head that these photographs would get noticed by someone who runs his own Framing Business and wishes to print and sell prints of my Sydney Storm Photograph.

Storm-Rolling-in-Over-Sydney-Opera-House---Black-and-WhiteHe is yet to sell any, but he has said that he’s had some interest.

He also has it printed in Black and White, and Sepia and it is currently pride of place in the front of his window display.

ShopWindowDisplayIf you happen to see this post and are in the Sunderland area, head on over to Grays Framing, Sea Road, Sunderland and I am sure they will be able to help you out with what you need, even if it is not to buy a print of my photograph.

The Sun is Setting Across the Skies of Sydney…

In my last post of Batten Down The Hatches… You Never Know When That Storm is Going To Come Rolling Through!!!, I promised I would go out again and attempt to get some sunset shots of Sydney Harbor.

Batten Down The Hatches… You Never Know When That Storm is Going To Come Rolling Through!!!

Since moving to Sydney, I have found it a little difficult to get in the right place at the right time to try and get one of my trademark shots.

Every time I go to a new place, I always seem to come back with at least one Sunset shot, and my parents have always wondered if I ever take photographs of anything else… well… it just so happens I do, it was only because I was out and about on Saturday afternoon making a concerted effort to get into the right place at the right time to get a Sunset shot across the skies of Sydney Harbor Bridge and Sydney Opera House, only to be presented with storm clouds, so here are some photos from that day.  I will upload more when I have finished going through them and editing them.

Photostream #007: Night Photography

In preparation for a Camera Club Event, I  have been spending some time around the city where I live creating some night-time photographs.

I was inspired by Matt Kloskowski’s latest blog entry: What I Learned on-my First Star Photo-shoot.  It certainly may not quite be Monument Valley, but you can only work with what you have at the time.

Simma Live at Nancy Bordello’s… Review

On September 29th, 2012 I had the opportunity to go and listen to some live music at Nancy’s Bordello in Newcastle-upon-Tyne (quite a nice restaurant and cocktail-bar, worth checking out if you’re in the area).

The live music was by a singer and musician called Simma and Guest.  I have to say I was expecting music written by him, but it wasn’t, he played the guitar amazingly well and played a number of songs from the 70s through 90s, with some that I actually knew and could actually sing along to.  His guest was one heck of a guitar player, and at times made that guitar sound nothing like a guitar but a completely different instrument.

This guy is definitely worth going to see, check out his website for his next live gig… Live Dates

I took a few pictures while I was there, they are not the best and no where near my usual standard, because they were taken on an iPhone in very low light, but they give them a bit of atmosphere.

Try their Jack Daniels and Coke… Good.

That’s it for that update… hope you enjoyed a little review of that band.

Photostream #006: Sunset on Loch Lomond

I was required to visit Glasgow, Scotland this past weekend and while I was in the area I thought I would take the opportunity to take some pictures on the edge of Loch Lomond.  I have been to Scotland on a couple of occasions and find the countryside to be very beautiful.

Some photographers like to take the time to explain their story behind their photographs, and thought I would share my story to get the photographs you see below…

… Have I a story for you… you’ll get such a kick out of this one…

PhotoStream #005: Walking the Tracks

Last weekend (September 16th, 2012) I decided to go on a walk and take some photographs along one of the oldest walking tracks around where I live.  It used to be an old railway track, which many years ago was converted into a walking and cycle network, that stretches almost 30 miles.

This walk ended up being longer than I planned, approximately 25.5 Kilometers.  I have walked this path a few times, but on that day it seemed I had walked a lot further.  The weather wasn’t all that great either.  The day before, I had walked along our local beach (approximately 4 miles in total) and it had been one of the warmest days of September, I got quite a sun-tan.  I only wish I had taken my camera on that day, there were so many photographic opportunities, I could have kicked myself.

The difference between the two days was amazing… you can see what it was like in the pictures below, the dark and grey skies (and it rained a little too).

PhotoStream #004 – Big Ride, Durham, Tyne and Wear

Hi everyone, a very quick update.  Today I was part of the official event photographer for the Big ‘Bike’ Ride that took place in Durham, Tyne & Wear today, it was the Little Ride for the kids (2 Miles) and the Middle Ride (10 – 25 Miles) from the County Hall in Durham, a small distance from the main town center.

Apart from being responsible for searching and printing of customer photographs throughout the day, I was also responsible for taking candid photographs of competitors after the race had finished.
