Tech Videos from Around the Web…

Today I want to post three videos that I have found from around the web.  I think they give a great understanding of how technology has progressed over the last 25 years.

The Mac in 1985

We start with a video that was produced by The Computer Chronicles where they demonstrate the latest in the Mac Hardware and Software and where it is heading.  The quality isn’t great, but it is 1985 after all….

A look at Japan’s underground bicycle parking system

Secondly we take a look at something that I think that should be adopted by all major cities.  Now I know Japan (although I have never been, but hope to visit in the near future) is a nation that loves to travel around the city by Bicycle and have far more of the things than other cities (combined, probably).

This system is absolutely fantastic…  I will shut up and let Danny Choo of Culture Japan show you how it works.

Photoshop Live – Street Retouch Prank

Finally we have the Photoshop Live – Street Retouch Prank.  This thing made me cry with laughing.  I would love to see this done here in my home town.  Just watch it you will be amazed at how quick they are able to edit photos and the peoples reactions.

The ARAC ZXS Concept by Marko Petrovic

It has been a while since my last article that featured a motorcycle.  Although I no longer own a motorcycle (for now) my passion for their aesthetic design and convenience, has not gone away.

When I saw this beautifully designed concept bike by Marko Petrovic, my enthusiasm was revived and just had to do a post on it, and only hope we will see something like it on our roads soon.

I know it is on my wish list…

Design Work: Titanic 100 Year Commemoration Poster

If you are not already aware, April 15th, 2012 is the 100th Year Anniversary of the tragic sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic.

RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City. The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of 1,514 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her maiden voyage. One of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line, she was built between 1909–11 by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. She carried 2,224 people. [Source]

Awesome Yacht.

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you will know that I like my gadgets.  One of the ultimate gadgets [if you can call it that], and something that has been used as basis for creating conceptual designs for a lot longer than any of those iPod, iPhone or Mac concepts, like in my previous article on 3 Epic Apple Product Concepts, I Would Like to See Made… is the ultimate in yacht design.

I like looking at the futuristic concepts car designers come up with, but one of the things I have never considered or has never been on my radar [sorry], is the beautiful designs some people come up with for the ultimate concept in yacht design.

3 Epic Apple Product Concepts, I Would Like to See Made…

Being the Apple fan that I am, I have come across several concepts the various people have created (digitally).   After looking through them all, I have selected just three that would be awesome if Apple were to actually make them.  It is unlikely that any of these products will see the light of day, but there is some really great designers out there.

The three I have selected to show here are as follows:

  • Apple iPod Nano Coin
  • Apple QuickTake Camera
  • Apple iPod Shuffle 2020

Electric Motorbikes Just Got Cooler…

With a more than a passing fascination of riding motorbikes, I can appreciate the aesthetics of them, and the thrills they give you when you get on a powerful two-wheeler.  I have driven cars for over ten years and cannot find what the fascination is for swapping the combustion engine we have come to love for ‘batteries’.

Sure today, battery-powered cars will help to save the planet from the harmful gases our cars and bikes produce.  The problem is, no car maker out there (with the exception of the Tesla Roadster) is making a cool looking battery-powered car with the power of today’s combustion engine, whilst giving – without a better phrase – good fuel economy.
