I wonder if Jonny Ive’s new appointment as Head of Human Interfaces at Apple has anything to do with the delay in the release of iTunes 11…
Although I am disappointed to learn that this has been delayed, I was looking forward to this long awaited refresh, I would rather Apple get it right and not have a repeat of the Maps debacle..

With October almost over, Apple (s AAPL) is acknowledging that it won’t be able to release iTunes 11 on time. An Apple spokesperson told CNET that the release is taking “longer than expected,” adding that the company wanted to take “a little extra time to get it right.” Apple is now saying that it will release the completely revamped version of iTunes before the end of November.

Apple first announced iTunes 11 at its iPhone 5 event in September, with Apple SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue saying at the time that it would be released some time in October. However, iTunes was notably absent from the company’s iPad mini event last week, leading to speculation that the development of the media player was behind schedule.

Tim Cook, Apple’s (s AAPL) chief executive, put his stamp on the Cupertino, Calif-based iPhone maker Monday and shook up his management team. That meant promotions for some and exits for others. While executive changes are as routine as replacing shoe insoles at other companies, at Apple they are stock-influencing moves, especially since one of the executives was widely (and incorrectly) viewed as a CEO candidate.
