25 Years of Stand By Me.

Although, technically the movie Stand By Me was released in 1986, it wasn’t until March 1987 that it was released here in the UK.  So despite being a year too late to celebrate its actual 25th Anniversary, I still wanted to celebrate it by doing a blog post of twenty-five years since its release here.

I was only 9 years old when this movie was released but still remember the first time I saw it.  It was and still is one of my all time favorite movies to watch, it is one of those movies that has become timeless over the years, and is one of those movies that I grew up with, and still enjoy watching it even today.  I have been a Stephen King fan for a number of years and have read the short-story ‘The Body’, that this movie was based upon.

If you haven’t seen this movie (where have you been the last 25 Years?) – The movie has now been released on a Special Edition Blu-Ray that can be purchased for £7.49 from Amazon.co.uk

The disc includes the following features:

  • Blu-ray Exclusive: A video reunion with Director Rob Reiner and Actors Wil Wheaton & Corey Feldman for the first time in 25 years
  • An audio commentary with Reiner
  • Documentary featurette
  • Stand By Me music video featuring River Phoenix and Wil Wheaton.

Nest – Updates Their Smart Thermostat.

Back in December (which seems so long ago now, but it’s only about 4-5 months), I wrote my ‘30 Cool Gadgets and Concepts‘ article, in which I mentioned a new product by the company Nest of the same name. Now Nest have updated their smart thermostat with new features and I wanted to do a full review of its features.

 $249 per unit.

Nest is the intelligent thermostat that learns about its environment and its owner’s lives, by its usage, by simply turning it up or down.

Today’s Quick Post: Check Out Kelby Training…!

For a number of years, I had considered joining the National Association of Photoshop Professional (NAPP), the company that was founded by Scott Kelby, and the producers of Photoshop User Magazine.  This was a result of watching the ‘Photoshop Guys’ podcast since it began all those years ago.  I even remember when it was simply a MP3 podcast – try following a tutorial on Photoshop without a visual reference…

Happy St Georges Day

April 23rd, 2012

Saint George’s Day is the feast day of Saint George. It celebrated by various Christian churches and by the several nations, kingdoms, countries, and cities of which Saint George is the patron saint. Saint George’s Day is celebrated on April 23, the traditionally accepted date of Saint George’s death in AD 303. For Eastern Orthodox Churches who use the Julian calendar, April 23 corresponds to May 06 on the Gregorian calendar. [Source]

Updates and Events…

Hi, it has been a while since I last updated with something larger than a quick update.  Well this article is going be a little longer, but still going to provide an update…

Update to my Portfolio.

I have made an update to two area’s of my portfolio.  If you read my last post you will be aware that I have finally gotten round to putting together some kind of portfolio of the type of photography I undertake.

I don’t pretend to be an expert at photography, far from it, but I do believe I am fairly good or at least I like the pictures I take and end up with.  I am like many of you photographers out there… we take hundreds of photographs, but never seem to print them out or they never see the light of day.  Well I am going to change and post as much of my photography as I can for all to share.

If you visit my main website which is at aiweb20.cixx6.com and visit the Portfolio section of the site you will see a menu like the one shown in the picture above, if you hover over the Categories section of that menu, and then hover over Photography, you will see a list of different types of photography that I have grouped my images into.

The two sections I have updated today are, Travel Photography and Urban Exploration.

Design Work: Titanic 100 Year Commemoration Poster

If you are not already aware, April 15th, 2012 is the 100th Year Anniversary of the tragic sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic.

RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City. The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of 1,514 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her maiden voyage. One of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line, she was built between 1909–11 by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. She carried 2,224 people. [Source]
